Wharton Future Professional Goals Essay: Strong Management Fundamentals

Wharton MBA Application Essay 1: How do you plan to use the Wharton MBA program to help you achieve your future professional goals? You might consider your past experience, short and long-term goals, and resources available at Wharton. (500 words)

For the fifth Sample essay, we look at a Fictitious profile – a candidate with 4+ years of experience with a Consulting giant.

When the consulting giant pivoted to leveraging analytics for all its solutions, the applicant recognized that it was not the knowledge of data science and analytics that offered consultants a strong command over client problems. A deeper understanding of Operations, Marketing, and Finance influenced a consultant’s ability to customize the data models.

When the client leveraged the data model without completely understanding the risks that the applicant was citing, the Buy-Out failed to maximize the return for the shareholders.

The failure, although was a result of the client’s appetite for risk-taking, as a consultant, the applicant felt that her lack of command over the fundamentals in Quantitative Finance and connecting the pillars of a business, i.e., Marketing, Operations, and Finance was also a contributing factor.

With Wharton’s General Management focus and a strong legacy in Finance, the applicant believes that a 2-year rigorous program like the MBA will improve her skills as a consultant.
