Wharton Future Professional Goals Essay: Venture Capital

Wharton MBA Application Essay Goal Essay: How do you plan to use the Wharton MBA program to help you achieve your future professional goals? You might consider your past experience, short and long-term goals, and resources available at Wharton. (500 words)

For the seventh Wharton MBA Sample essay, we look at a candidate managing an Angel Fund/Incubator who starts the narrative with the example of an entrepreneur who is asked the question of what the person would do if a competitor copied their product. The pitch dives into the specifics of the product and what makes it tough to copy and then mentions the unique achievement of the Entrepreneur in pushing humans to the first affordable space flight. The support the applicant offered to the Entrepreneur in the form of mentorship, developing milestones, fine-tuning the pitch, and finally receiving $2m in seed funding is quoted as her greatest achievement.

The second paragraph takes the admissions team to the evolution of the Incubator and how the applicant created a strong brand revered in the entrepreneurial community. Partnerships and Sponsorships from Amazon, Microsoft, and Google are mentioned to validate the claim. A majority of leads through referrals is another point to validate the brand’s IMPACT.

The vulnerability in her offering is mentioned through the next milestone – scaling. The essay cleverly quotes the Wharton MBA curriculum and ends with a line summarizing the value of Wharton MBA and the impact it would have on her long-term vision.

Sample Wharton MBA Goals Essay: What do you hope to gain professionally from the Wharton MBA? (Incubation & Angel Investing to Venture Capital) (471 Words)

X hesitated when asked “How you would react if a competitor copied your product” before meticulously listing the ‘details’ that he deployed that made his flight simulator software unique. His teaser about a secret algorithm that adapted to the skills of the astronaut and the ‘pushing to the limit’ approach was a paradigm shift in simulator software that went on to earn him $2m in seed funding.  His venture winning a deal to integrate the flight simulator software for the maiden Virgin Galactic Space flight in 2021 was the most satisfying experience in my professional career.
