In the fifth example on personal growth, we look at the life of an applicant whose parents met at GSB in the 1990s. Both, with an influential career in Finance, took on two different routes. One settling into a home life taking care of the kids and the other traveling extensively for work.

From the commoditized life in New York to the community-oriented life in Montana, the lesson on fishing that her father imparted changed the applicant’s attitude towards connecting with nature.

From fishing to bow & arrow hunting, the applicant became aware of the delicate balance that Montana's rich heritage of parks, mountains, and lakes, offer to the communities.

Through the meetings, lobbying, and relationship building, the applicant shares how her environment has influenced her values and commitment towards conservationism.

My parents fell madly in love at GSB in the 1990s. Coming from a Finance background, both pivoted to careers in Wall Street before life’s responsibilities took my mother from the workforce. We are a big family and I the only person working in Finance. The rebellion to choose artistic careers, although a cliché, was a perfect match for my four sisters. The big family dynamics meant, we had the chaos of the sisterhood and the yearning to find our unique path. I started kindergarten in New York. Since my father had to travel for his LBO position and the accounts started accumulating in Montana, we made the Big Sky country our home when I was 7.
