In the third example, we look at the profile of a Financial Consultant who shares the origins of her unique blend of talent for accounting and creativity. The narrative quickly translates to how she became part of a non-profit that brokered deals for the underprivileged workers in emerging economies. The marketing and business development role gave her a glimpse into the challenges of someone living in the absence of basic amenities. The day job evaluating the strategies to maximize revenue from millionaire customers in luxury hotels helped her switch between two extreme contexts.

The engagement with the non-profit is cited as the experience for reigniting her unique passion for collecting fashion accessories from the 1960s to 90s. Her intent to pursue Entrepreneurship with the help of Chicago Booth is mentioned as the short-term goal. In the long-term, the applicant plans to create a fund to encourage Women Entrepreneurs and guide them through one on one coaching.

My father’s obsession over using accounting to predict future trends and mother’s unbridled imagination as a futuristic-themed novelist brought interesting conversations to the Dinner table. Following parents’ paths weren’t feasible as accounting and novels didn’t intermix in the job market. I choose the closest second option by majoring in Accounting and Marketing.

Accounting wasn’t my first choice, but when an Alumnus from Georgetown shared the opportunities to learn about Businesses, I swooped in and joined PwC as a Risk Assurance associate. The tenure with the consulting giant brought structure to my Financial consulting career. I polished my Marketing skills by leading the campaign for <y> - a non-profit that brokered deals for the underprivileged by partnering with socially responsible brands for retail manufacturing projects. I worked with clients in Peru, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, simplifying my communication and applying my accounting fundamentals to find terms that balanced profitability for the retail giant and respectable wages & conditions for the workers.
