Stanford MBA - Scholarships, Fellowships, Loans and Financial Aid

Stanford MBA Scholarships and Fellowships

Stanford MBA scholarships are broadly provided based on ethnicity, nationality, leadership, post-MBA careers in non-profit, Finance and real estate, personal traits, association with the military, and academic achievements, although the last criterion is rare as most entering Stanford MBA graduates have excellent academic credentials.

The amount ranges from $1,000 to $50,000, with the class of 2025 receiving on an average of $42,000 in scholarship or external funding each year.

Among the popular scholarships, the American Association of University Women stands out for encouraging minority women to pursue an MBA at Stanford. The amount ranges from $8,000 to $50,000. The other more than $10,000 scholarships designed based on the character of the person outside leadership include Bridging the Dream Scholarship – a scholarship for a person’s holistic contributions and the Harvey Fellows – a scholarship designed for students who have lived their lives with Christian values.

The unusually titled “International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Foundation scholarship,” unlike what the name might imply, is not for anyone associated with shopping centers. It is for candidates demonstrating post-MBA interest in real estate.

The Tillman Scholars Fellowship is one of the reliable fellowships for military veterans with proven leadership in their careers. The $11,000 fellowship is also available to the spouses of the veterans or active service members, making the fund unique for supporting the US military family.

External Scholarship

External scholarships for Stanford MBA have been shortlisted primarily based on nationality or country of origin, where the fund ranges from $15,000 to $50,000, except for the fund for Belgian nationals, which is $100,000. In the post-MBA industry,  most funds are available for a career in Finance.

The American Association of University Women has one unique $18,000 to $30,000 for international women candidates studying in the US. Such high-value funding outside scholarships based on nationality is provided by two fellowships - the Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans – a $90,000 fund for children of first-generation Americans and $100,000 Samvid Ventures, scholarship for students with strong academic and extra-curricular.

Stanford MBA Loans

MBA loans through third-party and government funds are calculated after deducting the fellowships and scholarship amount from the total cost of attendance.

Loans for US Citizens and Permanent Residents

The Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan and the Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan are the most popular loan options for American citizens. Private loans, with a variable interest rate, are the second most common loan opted by Stanford MBA students.

For self-funded applicants who want to leverage the loan option, there are terms that allow a borrowing period of 3-5 years without collateral as long as the applicant signs to pay off the loan within the same period. This option is recommended for applicants entering Finance. Consulting and Finance – three popular and most remunerated post-MBA industries. Loans for International Candidates

Loans for international candidates have expanded with the entry of digital lenders who have a wider-range of products and flexible payment terms and repayment periods of 5 to 25 years. Do extensive research before shortlisting funds.
