Yale SOM MBA Commitment Essay: Describe the biggest commitment you have ever made. Why is this Commitment meaningful to you, and what actions have you taken to support it?

Applicants from Entrepreneurial backgrounds are rare in most top schools except for Stanford, Harvard, Babson, and Oxford. However, another profile that is entrepreneurial in thinking but would benefit from an MBA program are applicants from the VC/PE/Angel Investing background.

The candidate opens the narrative with the driving route her father took to her school. The inequality she witnessed on the streets, the small contributions she made, and the IMPACT she saw became a motivation for her biggest commitment.

After clearly articulating the commitment, she transitions to a non-profit experience and the impact of her contribution and then another community engagement that demonstrates her actions to uplift the less fortunate.

The applicant then narrates her entrepreneurial failure despite an impressive network. The failure is cited as a pivotal moment when she realizes that entrepreneurs need end-to-end support and funding milestones. The realization becomes a motivation for starting her Angel Investing and incubating services. She is catering to a demographic of entrepreneurs (rural entrepreneurs) who often don’t reach the final stage of funding rounds due to a lack of communication skills and network.

The concluding paragraph connects the commitment to be of service to the less fortunate by guiding rural entrepreneurs.
