Sample LBS MBA Essay: Post-MBA Goals (Technology to FinTech Consulting)

In the first example, we look at the career profile of a Technologist who had worked closely with Investment Banks (IB) while implementing a FinTech solution.

The narrative starts with the background, then quickly contrasts the regulatory mechanism between banks and platforms. Then, the candidate shares his concerns on how Robo-advisors have taken over retail banking, and it is only a matter of time before automation would start putting pressure on the high commission that IB charges. By citing the $15 Goldman Sach investment in Kensho, generic observation is translated to a specific data point.

The opener of the second half of the essay is an honest acceptance that without an MBA, a technologist like the candidate would not be taken seriously. Without dwelling too much into the reality of how expertise is evaluated, the candidate quotes the curriculum structure of the LBS MBA program. A statistic highlighting London's FinTech dominance over the American counterparts, especially Silicon Valley is quoted as the transition to the next paragraph.

The final paragraph states how serving in the non-profit sector is essential to developing a thorough understanding of the social, technological, ethical, strategic and management issues of a complex problem.

It was during a recent project with < company name> that I was assigned the task of implementing a Financial Technology (FinTech) solution. During the tenure, I was amused by the regulatory roadblocks banks face in bringing products to the market. On the other hand, start-ups in FinTech are disrupting the market funding platforms and services.

The old-fashioned broker-based systems will soon be redundant if the adoption of Robo-advisors in retail banks is any indication. Although a large part of the premium that Investment Banks charges customers is based on the research expertise of the consultants, Goldman Sach’s $15 million investment into

Testimonial - London Business School MBA Essay Guide

"Deriving one event to the next, I tried to escape into the moments that defined me and watched how my older self took on risks and led me into a path that I am pursuing now. What I didn't have was an understanding of how London Business School would help me. I attended more than my fair share of MBA tours and events, but never got a sense of how-to connect with the admission team or the culture at London Business School. The analysis shared in F1GMAT's book is a lifesaver for anyone who wants to go into the details of how each course will help. The potential opportunities in London is another analysis that I found useful. The author provides a roadmap for structuring the essay using storytelling, routines and contexts. An excellent guide for anyone who wants to meet the London Business School MBA Application deadline"  - Verified Purchase
