Pick One Thing from your resume Ross Sample Essay - Consulting

If you have a typical volunteering experience, expand the resume entry for the essay. One common narrative we have read is the Consulting for Small Businesses during COVID. You must offer context on the drastic change in demand and how you managed to assist the business.

In this example, we look at an applicant who volunteered to assist a Mom & Pop store in reversing a 40% drop in Sales. The contributions were primarily in planning, marketing, and digitization. Since the store was an SMB business owned by a family, the processes and plan to transition to a technology-driven business weren’t clearly laid out, even before the pandemic. When the foot traffic dropped to zero in May 2020, the business was at risk of losing its loyal customer base to retail conglomerates.

The aggressive multi-step plan to digitize, market, brand, and invest in customer relationship management is the narrative that the applicant expands for the resume entry.
