Today, I have a question from a reader who asks – which program is the easiest to get into – Harvard, Stanford, or Wharton MBA.
The three schools have different selection criteria and class composition. If I were you, I would look at the culture of the schools and the personality traits that the school values.
HBS received 8,149 applications for the Class of 2025, with 938 students eventually enrolling. The MBA program had 8,264 applicants the previous year and had a class size of 1,015. Women account for 45 percent of the HBS Class of 2025 profile, the same as last year's 46 percent. Thirty-nine percent of the new class are international, which is one percent more than last year's statistics. Students in the United States averaged a 3.73 GPA in their undergraduate degree.
For the Class of 2024, HBS received 8,264 applications, out of which 1,015 were enrolled. The MBA program had 9,773 applicants the year before, which resulted in a class size of 1,010. Applicants were aware of the deferred admissions. The end of the pandemic and the continued restrictions that affect experiential learning have affected the application volume. Moreover, applicants no longer do the lottery-style applying to top schools. They are deeply aware of their admission chances.
When PE/VC dominates the post-MBA job offers at Stanford, Harvard stands out for its 8% representation in Hedge Fund/Investment Management with Finance clearly the school’s strength while Consulting remaining at 2nd place and Technology attracting more offers with the increase in base salary.
The good news is that the school has limited the maximum word limit to 900 words. That is close to 2 pages. Most of the time, when I brainstorm with clients on editing their essays, so many sections are so sacred that suggestions to remove them are met with resistance. I know that feeling. When you write freely, there are lines, phrases, or paragraphs that are so beautiful that you feel that they would help you stand out.

The question is
For the Class of 2020, the Harvard Full-time MBA program received 9,228 applications, of which only 938 students were enrolled. The program has maintained a high barrier of entry academically with the median GMAT score for the class at 730 and an average GPA at 3.7 – remaining the same as the previous year (3.7).
What you need now is a personal journey that helped you become who you are. We had clients who didn’t have any particular setbacks on first look, but digging deeper revealed skills that were only acquired because they escaped a personal setback.
In a span of just 10 years (1999 to 2009), the US Economy went through two booms and busts. Answering an open-ended Harvard MBA Essay question can be tricky. The Admission team has recommended that you as an applicant should not overthink or overcraft the essay. It is easier said than done. Without any outline or strategy, the free-flowing essay might not capture all the traits of your personality that would demonstrate that you are a good fit for the program.
Start with the worst - REJECTION, then work backward - waitlisted, or called for an interview. Now prepare for each scenario.
Q) Should I apply for the Full-time MBA program at Harvard Business School? I am a 45-year old UK-based doctor will 13+ years of experience. Before case study method, students have to brush up on case facts – competitors, pricing, limitations, and opportunities in the market, and threats from new entrants. The day before the case, smaller groups (5-6) from the learning team (group of 90 students) come together, reads the overview of the case, and engages in an open dialogue, discussing about the scenario from different perspectives.
