F1GMAT: What were the courses/events and activities in SKOLKOVO MBA that helped you the most?
Anna Shay: With professors from LSE, MIT, INSEAD and Harvard we acquired skills in Corporate finance, micro and macro economics, managerial accounting, operations management, risk management and other subjects. Of course 3 months of the academic module is a short time to go into depth, yet our skillful professors managed to create programs, which gave us the fundamental knowledge needed to run a company and start up a business.
F1GMAT: Why did you choose SKOLKOVO MBA?
Arjun Nair: It is a school with a strong focus on entrepreneurship and at the same time, the learning by doing approach gives you the opportunity to understand how businesses in different geographies (India, China, US and Russia) work.
You gain a first-hand knowledge on the business processes that define the company's daily operations, and get a chance to work on improving a particular processes or developing new strategic initiatives, etc. depending on the scope of work defined by the client.
It is the program structure that really got me interested in the program.
F1GMAT: How has been your experience till now?
Class Experience - The class size is relatively small, but the calibre of the students representing 9-10 different...
US News MBA ranking for 2012/13 has been released. Babson, Stanford and Harvard have ranked in the top 3 positions for Entrepreneurship. We have been observing this ranking for over three years now. The top 3 spots for most specialities pretty much stayed the same. When we talk about speciality rankings, these are MBA ranking in Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Executive MBA, Finance, Information Systems, International MBA,General Management, Marketing, Non-Profit, Part-time MBA, Operations and Supply Chain Management.

Deans and directors opinion are the only evaluation factors used to create speciality ranking.
If you compare this method with the overall ranking, the later uses 10 evaluation factors...
F1GMAT: SKOLKOVO MBA has put emphasis on Experiential Learning and Entrepreneurship. Can you please elaborate how this will help SKOLKOVO MBA Students?
Anna on SKOLKOVO MBA Experiential Learning
I would like to explain what experiential learning in SKOLKOVO means. Instead of the traditional schools’ approach, where the emphasis is on theory over practice, at SKOLKOVO the majority of students’ time will be spent on learning by doing real work projects, which are run in four countries. We want our students to be educated by their own experiences. Our education philosophy combines first-hand experience with relevant academic studies.
SKOLKOVO MBA students work on 5 real projects during the 12-month course for companies in China, Russia, the US and India....
F1GMAT: SKOLKOVO MBA is known for developing entrepreneur leaders. Do you think an MBA is required to be an entrepreneur? How does SKOLKOVO MBA encourage entrepreneurs?
Anna Shay: To me entrepreneurs are self-confident, untamed, idealists, which are the people that SKOLKOVO attracts. However they need SKOLKOVO as much as SKOLKOVO needs them. Despite the innate qualities, which are much needed there has to also be a sound platform of skills and knowledge. SKOLKOVO attract world's leading faculty...
