Yale MBA Salary 2021

Yale MBA stands out for its Consulting placements, with close to 50% choosing the function. Retail and FMCG that constitute 16% of all the offers by industry, is another unique trend not seen in US peer schools.

Historically, Yale MBA graduates have preferred the consulting industry. More than 34% of graduates entered the industry in 2021, with McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group, Deloitte, and EY taking up most of the talent.

Finance was second, with 25 percent of the class choosing the industry that includes Investment Banking (13.8%), Private Equity (3.3%), and Venture Capital (2.5%).  The total salary was $200,000;  higher than Duke Fuqua ($179,233), Darden ($185,000)  and Hass ($189,554).

Technology and Retail found equal representation at 10%, the latter contributed by Amazon and Walmart that were among the Top Employers at Yale.

Yale MBA Salary by Function (2021)

Consulting took the top spot for post-MBA hires by function, with half of the class opting for the specialization, followed by Finance and Accounting at the second spot (27%), as has been the case traditionally.

The two functions also managed to secure the highest total salary, with the Consulting median base salary ($160,000) falling short of peer schools by $5,000. The total salary for the Marketing and Sales were on the higher spectrum ($175,000) ahead of peer schools – Darden and Haas, and the bonus overtook the offers received at Harvard too.

The $40000 bonus for General Management is the highest bonus among all top schools. However, the $125,250 base salary was on the lower scale for the function, neutralizing the advantage.

91.5% of the hires were from the United States, with candidates from the Northeast comprising close to 52 percent of the U.S hires. The base median salary for those from the northeast reached $150,000, second to the median salary for those from the southwest, $162,000, albeit accounting for 4.7% of the hires.

International hires were close to 8 percent of the class, with a median base salary of $102,918. Most offers with the second best remuneration was provided by Asia (40%) ($103,629), while the best international offers were from Europe (30%) ($106,313).

Top recruiters at Yale full-time MBA include Accenture, Amazon, Bain & Company Inc., Kraft Heinz, Nestle USA, Barclays Ltd, Goldman Sachs, Adobe Systems, Walmart, U.S. Census Open Innovation Lab, Kahoot!, and Tesla Motors.
