Oxford Post-MBA Placements - By Function (2023 Graduating Class)

In the second part of the four part series, we cover Oxford MBA Post-MBA placements and salary by function.

Notably, Management and Strategy Consulting emerged as highly sought-after roles, with 10.80% and 17.80% of graduates hired, respectively that combined stand lower than the peer schools, Cambridge and HEC Paris. The robust demand for Consulting talent reflects the value placed on analytical skills, business acumen, and the ability to drive organizational change.

Additionally, roles in Impact Investment and Non-profit/social enterprises garnered significant attention, each accounting for 3.30% of hires. This suggests a growing interest among MBA graduates in careers prioritizing social impact and sustainability, underscoring the increasing importance of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations in business decisions.

Conversely, Investment Banking and Investment Management, while not as prominent as consulting, still attracted attention, with 5.20% and 9.80% of graduates hired, respectively. The hiring for Investment Banking stands second highest among the peer schools after LBS (7%), but Investment Management hiring rates stand highest among the T20 MBA schools. These roles offer opportunities for financial analysis, portfolio management, and advisory services, appealing to candidates with a strong finance background or an interest in capital markets.

However, sectors such as Healthcare, Energy/Utilities, and Media saw relatively lower hiring rates, 4.3%, 2.3%, and 2.3%, respectively - attributed to industry-specific challenges, regulatory complexities, or limited recruitment needs compared to Consulting and Finance industries.

Healthcare, with 4.2%, stands second after HEC Paris, with a 5% hiring rate among peer schools.

While Consulting and Finance remain popular choices, the presence of roles in impact investment and social enterprises highlights the growing emphasis on purpose-driven careers and sustainability initiatives among MBA professionals.
