History
The Sainsbury Management Fellowship (SMF) was established in 1987 by Lord Sainsbury of Turville, aiming to bridge the gap between engineering and business leadership. The fellowship is administered by the Engineers in Business Fellowship (EIBF), a charity dedicated to promoting business education for engineers and scientists.
Since its inception, the SMF scheme has supported over 400 engineers, many of whom have gone on to found or co-found businesses valued at over £5 billion, creating more than 21,000 jobs.
The fellowship aims to develop UK engineers as industry leaders and improve the economic performance of UK businesses by providing a resource of highly motivated engineers with a first-class business education in an international environment.
