Kellogg MBA Curriculum
The core curriculum for the 2-year MBA program consists of nine courses in Accounting; Management and Organizations; Marketing; Finance; Managerial economics; Decision sciences; Operations; and Management and Strategy, Leadership, and Crisis Management.
If a student wishes to major in an area relevant to their academic and professional expertise, eight majors in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Operations, Strategy, Managing Organizations, and Management Science are available.
A minimum of 4 electives is required out of 100s for graduation.
The program offers over 1000 experiential learning opportunities, including 37 exchange programs across 20 countries.
Those who do not wish to major are allowed a full rounded development under the General Management degree.

Job trend – Rise of Consulting, Corporate Strategy and Strategic Planning
The year 2020 saw a 10% increase in consulting function with a 54% increase over the previous year in students choosing a corporate strategy and strategic planning.
After a rise in 2019, the finance function took a hit in 2020, with fewer graduates choosing corporate development and investment management. The inflow was higher for private equity, corporate finance, and investment banking functions.
End of Kellogg as a Destination for Marketing Professionals
Kellogg’s expertise in Marketing and General Management lost its sheen with the pandemic affecting almost all industries.
General management fell by 15% and marketing by 25% in 2020. The brand management function being the worst affected in number and in salary.
Technology Rising at Kellogg
While operation and logistics have been steady, the technology function has seen a growth of 184% in the past 5 years, with product management being the highest grosser amongst all the technology functions.

In the year 2020, consulting industry recruited a major chunk 36.3 % of Kellogg’s graduates against 31% in 2019. Next in line was the technology (27.6%) industry, especially the internet and e-commerce (12%), which saw a 79% growth than the previous year, followed by financial services (14.9%).
1.8% Dip in Private Equity Offers in 2020
The private equity saw a dip at 5.6% from the high it received last year (7.4%) but took home a median salary of $150,000, the second-best to consulting at $165,000. Investment banking, too, reported a consistent growth at 6% and $150,000. The interest in consumer-packaged goods has been slowly declining in the past 5 years along with the real estate, with the salary hitting lowest at $110,000.
