UCLA Anderson EMBA: What are the Global Learning Opportunities?

Despite having one campus location, UCLA Anderson provides a wealth of global learning experiences through three key programs - The International Business Residential program, Global Immersion program and the International Exchange Program.

1) The International Business Residential

The International Business Residential program offers a unique one-week residential course in three different countries each from Asia, South America, and Europe. Students need to pick one country from the available three options. Some of the earlier cities selected for the IBR program included Berlin, Buenos Aires, Kigali, Melbourne, and Sydney. This immersive experience includes company visits, cultural exploration, and networking with business professionals and local alumni, providing firsthand insights into international business environments.

2) Global Immersion program

The Global Immersion program allows students to select from emerging and transforming economies. Recent immersion courses cover Dubai (Dubai and Its Evolving Role in the U.A.E., Middle East, and the World), Vietnam (Entrepreneurship in Developing Countries: Focus on Vietnam), Chile (Doing Business in an Advanced Middle-Income Country: Chile) and Cuba (Cuba: An Economy in Transition).

In addition to the Global Immersion program, are there any global learning opportunities?

UCLA Anderson EMBA provides one-week travel opportunities during intersession breaks, which occur between academic quarters. Each trip is themed around the business economy of the country visited, offering students a deeper understanding of global business dynamics. For example, during the India trip, students go through the theme Business Environment of India: Mumbai and Hyderabad with an Emphasis on Entertainment, Finance, Tech, and Biotech. Similarly, The Israel visit is associated with the Start-Up Nation: Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Sustainability theme.

Which countries have been recently covered under the UCLA EMBA global learning modules?

China, South Africa, France, Cuba, Chile, Israel, and India are often covered in the recent global learning modules, exposing students to business cultures and practices outside the USA, especially those focused on Asia and Latin America. Through these global learning initiatives, UCLA Anderson EMBA students develop a global mindset, cross-cultural competence, and a deeper understanding of international business dynamics, enhancing their leadership capabilities in a global context.

In addition to cross-cultural intelligence, the cohort of 40 is often a mix of participants from the full-time, EMBA and part-time MBA programs, offering the team a diverse range of experiences and fresh perspectives to approach the same problem.

3) International Exchange Program

The International Exchange Program offers the opportunity to take one-week classes at partner universities worldwide during the summer. In recent years, the partner universities for the International Exchange program are from Australia, Japan, Brazil, France, Israel, Italy, Peru, Spain, and the UK. Students can choose from several courses offered by exchange schools that can vary each year and learn alongside local business students, gaining valuable cross-cultural insights and networking opportunities.
